The air quality in Latvia is affected by stationary and mobile emission sources, as well as by long-range transboundary air pollution.
Presently, the environmental policy aims for reduction of emissions and waste from energy and industrial production. Cabinet of Ministers Regulation on Air Quality defines the National air quality standards, procedure for the reduction of air pollution, and air protection measures. This Regulation is already completely compatible with the EU requirements.
