Waste is one of the main environmental problems in Europe and also in Latvia. The main problems in Latvia related to waste are the large number of waste dumps not complying with environmental protection requirements, uncontrolled and illegal dumping of waste outside the territories of waste dumps, and lack of municipal solid waste inventory.
