Recycling of Hazardous Waste

In 1997, subsidies for the recycling of hazardous waste and used packaging were paid by the Environmental Protection Fund to companies dealing with recycling of mercury lamps, used lead batteries, used mineral oils, plastic.

  • Law "On Environmental Protection" (1991, amendments in 1997).

  • Law "On Local Governments" (1994).

  • Law "On Hazardous Waste" (1993). The amendments to the law "On Hazardous Waste" (1996) aim at the facilitation of utilisation of hazardous waste by the co-operation among the Baltic states.

  • Affiliated legislation: Cabinet of Ministers Regulation "On the Registration of Documents for the Handling of Hazardous Waste" (1996) and Cabinet of Ministers Regulation "On the Classification of Hazardous Waste and the Criteria of Dangerousness" (1997).

  • Law "On the Natural Resources Tax" (1995).

  • Affiliated legislation: Cabinet of Ministers Regulation "On the Application of Provisions of the Law "On the Natural Resources Tax"" (1996) and the Appendix to this Regulation "Amount of Subsidies for Recycling or Re-use of Environmentally Harmful Goods or Products".
